Topic: My topic is the hunting controversy in America and how effective is the hunting community's strategies on swaying the non-hunting majority. This applies non-hunting citizens in America on whether hunting will continue in the future.
Context: My context of my paper will consists arguments on both sides of the hunting issue, anti-hunting and pro-hunting. I will have statistics and government information on the topic from government documents, such as a source where I found President George Bush telling federal agencies to promote hunting as a wildlife management tool. There will be information from experts from magazines such as Outdoor Life discussing the importance of hunting and it effects on our society, in a positive way. I will talk about how hunting is an American tradition and a conservational tool to promote wildlife populations and healthy ecosystems. In addition, I will talk about the impact of hunting on the economy on how much money is spent from hunters to help federal and state agencies, as well as local cities. There will be sources from articles in discussing the efforts of both sides in either preserving or ending hunting. For majority of the paper, I will try to persuade my audience, that hunting needs to be preserved in the United States because it does more good than harm.
Purpose: The purpose of my research paper is to educate and promote hunting in the United States. Ultimately, I want to change the views of the non-hunting majority in favor of hunting. Hunting was been percieved as something bad and it effects not only us, but wildlife. In some areas, wildlife populations are over populated and destroying the ecosystem. Hunting needs a place in American society because it is a pastime and tradition for numerous families. Anti-hunting groups are doing a good job in stopping hunting rights, such as closing down bear season in California in 1989. It is the hunting community which I am a part of to stop these attacks and persuade the non-hunting community that hunting is a positive sport, management tool, and pasttime. I have personal experience with this topic and greatly passionate in writing about it.
Audience: My audience is the non-hunting majority in the American public.
Author: The author is me and whoever has written a research paper as mine which deals with the hunting controversy.
WP #1 Research Proposal is more about discussing about the topic I am going to write about, while WP #3 is about the rhetorical situation of the contents of my paper in detail, such as the topic, context, purpose, audience, and author.
