Deadline #3 HW #1 Reading Reflection
This week's readings were useful because it gave me a process on developing my research question, organizing my data, and information on searching for sources on the Internet. Chapter 3 from the Bedford Researcher was of much help because it guided me on considering my role in my research and refining my research question. On page 33, I learned what my role is on the paper. There were many descriptions of each different role from advocates to entertainers. I also liked the tutorial on page 41, which showed me the basic steps of taking a broad research question and narrowing it down to something that is more specific. Chapter 4 was about collecting and keeping track of information from my research. It showed how to save information by printing articles from web pages and saving it on a flash drive. You can also save information through email. It also stressed about keeping information organized for your convienence. I really like how it talked about the search plan because it is going to help out when I have to complete deadline 3. Chapter 5 section b was about the different searching information on electronic resources. It gave definitions on web search engines to government search sites and directories. What was really helpful was page 77 which gave ways to search for sources by typing words or phrases in the search fields. You can type in one or more keywords like simple searches or special characters like wildcard searches. This week's readings are going to be useful because it is going to help me do my search plan and help me fix my research question. Overall, it is going to be great help for this week's work and are other coming papers.
